This paper addresses best practices across systems responding to domestic violence that is rooted in placing accountability for the abuse on the person who caused harm—and the consequences to children when this is not done. The paper also outlines what advocates can do to push for systems change that fully integrates accountability for abusers, provides excellent advocacy to survivors, and looks at alternative models for dependencies and the termination of parent rights.
