Because Washington State recognizes that “people have the right to choose or refuse to have an abortion,” state-regulated health plans are required to provide abortion coverage.  Some health insurance plans, such as Providence Health Plan, refuse to cover most abortion-related services.  The WA Department of Health will pay for abortion services for people with Providence Health Plans.  If you have questions, please contact ReproductiveChoice@doh.wa.gov.

Survivors need the freedom to decide if, when and how they become parents. Everyone should be free to make decisions about their body and their family, and experience sexuality without violence, coercion and external control. The freedom to make decisions around reproductive health and parenting allow people to write their own futures.
