Domestic Violence Legislative Advocacy Days

February 6, 2023 @ 9:00 am February 8, 2023 @ 5:00 pm

Every year during the Washington State legislative session we host a statewide day of policy advocacy and action! Participants learn about budget and policy issues that impact survivors of domestic violence and connect with the legislators who represent them. This event is always a powerful way our community comes together to make a big impact for survivors! Join advocates across the state to take action for survivors and their families! This year’s Advocacy Days will take place remotely, so you can take action from anywhere.

Legislative Advocacy Information Session

Monday, February 6, 9:00 – 11:00 AM

Hosted by Emily Stone and Anna McKnight

Learn about the important budget and policy issues that affect survivors and their families, and how you can take action. Our policy staff will share an update on our big funding request and WSCADV’s other priorities for this legislative session. You will get an overview of the legislative process and get the tools you need to meet with the legislators who represent you.

Meetings With Your Legislators

Monday, February 6 – Wednesday, February 8 (various times)

Register as soon as possible (no later than January 20) to attend meetings with your state legislators. We will schedule 15-minute virtual appointments Monday-Wednesday, February 6-8. Our goal is to set up meetings with all three of your district’s legislators or their staffers (1 Senator, 2 Representatives). You will be joined by other attendees who live in your legislative district. We cannot guarantee meetings with all your legislators, but will do our very best! Note: the sooner you are able to register, the more likely we can secure a timeslot for meetings with your 3 legislators as legislative appointments are first-come first-serve during session.

We will provide fact sheets, talking points, and tips to guide conversations with your legislators. If you are new to the process or want extra support, we can connect you with WSCADV staff or seasoned advocates from your district who can answer questions and attend meetings with you.

Accessibility

Language Interpretation: The deadline to request language interpretation for this event is January 23. We are not able to guarantee interpreters for any registrations after that date. The Information Session will have auto-generated captions.

We prioritize registration for staff of our member programs and our colleagues in Washington state. If you are registering for this webinar from a non-member or out of state program, please know that we may not be able to guarantee your space.
