This edition, entirely in Spanish, is not a translation of the English versions; it contains all new characters and stories that illustrate the particular challenges facing Latin American immigrant women who are surviving abusive and controlling relationships.
The goal of Caminando en sus Zapatos is to
- increase awareness of the struggles that women with abusive partners face.
- illustrate that domestic violence is a community tragedy, not a private problem.
- show that we all have a role in the movement to end domestic violence. Many social workers, politicians, and police officers are already familiar with their roles. Caminando en sus Zapatos illustrates that there’s a role, as well, for doctors, religious leaders, and even neighbors, in understanding and solving the problem of domestic violence.
- encourage everyone to think creatively about the ways we can work to end domestic violence.
