Information on Recent Immigration Enforcement Actions

WSCADV joins the National Task Force to End Sexual and Domestic Violence (NTF) to oppose the recent arrest and detention of the immigrant transgender domestic violence survivor who was seeking a protection order from her abusive partner in El Paso, Texas. This sets a dangerous precedent about immigration enforcement priorities, and creates a chilling effect for immigrant survivors of sexual and domestic violence, further marginalizing them as they consider reaching out to law enforcement or the courts to seek help.

Recent expansion of immigration enforcement priorities has created fear and uncertainty within immigrant communities. It is important for advocates to continue providing accurate information to survivors about their rights, and help them safety plan in light of these egregious immigration enforcement actions.
