Increasing Options to Address Harm & Survivor Healing – July 13 – Spokane

July 13, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
  • This event has passed.

For almost two decades, WSCADV’s Washington State Domestic Violence Fatality Review has identified the need for greater community-based responses to meaningfully address both survivor needs and change abusive behavior. A recent National Domestic Violence Hotline survey found that the majority of survivors who sought help would not turn to police, or when they did, their situation became worse. The need for more options to respond to and prevent harm is more apparent than ever. We invite advocates and others who work with survivors to join us for one of two workshop trainings and discussion events exploring the potential for community accountability and transformative justice practices to expand options for survivors.

We are thrilled to have national experts Mimi Kim (Creative Interventions) and Shira Hassan (Just Practice) in Washington to lead these trainings, in addition to local expert DeAnn Alcantara-Thompson (Coalition Ending Gender-Based Violence).
