DVAM 2026: Creating a Shared Vision of Well-Being (Creating buy-in and mobilization around prevention)

October 20 @ 11:00 am – 12:30 pm

Violence prevention starts with something every community already has: people who care.

When people connect, collaborate, and work toward a shared vision of well-being, they create the conditions for safety, belonging, and thriving communities. In this interactive workshop, we’ll explore how to talk about domestic and sexual violence prevention in ways that are accessible, empowering, and rooted in the strengths of our communities.

Together, we’ll examine how prevention is not just a set of programs or strategies, but the everyday work of building connection, fostering collective care, and creating opportunities for people to take action for the common good.

Through practical examples, reflection, and discussion, participants will develop language and approaches that help engage others in prevention work, build community buy-in, and communicate a clear vision of what’s possible when communities come together. No jargon, no abstract theories. Just real-world conversations about the power we all have to strengthen our communities and prevent violence before it happens.
