Advocacy Learning Community: Phone Advocacy on the Crisis Line
June 10 @ 9:30 am – 12:00 pm
Join us for a specialized training designed for advocates on how to support crisis line callers during moments of trauma and uncertainty. This training will equip you with practical tools and compassionate techniques for responding to calls with empathy, clarity, and confidence. You’ll learn how to create a safe space over the phone, recognize signs of distress, and offer empowering support without judgment. Whether you’re new to advocacy or looking to strengthen your skills over the phone, this training provides a supportive environment to grow and connect with others doing this vital work.
DV Hopeline is a free, safe and confidential domestic violence helpline for any person, from any community, of any age or gender, located at New Beginnings (Seattle). The trainers – Shaida Bibby, Caren Sumption, Jaskirat Chawla and Zoey Montanye, will present their approach to providing remote support to survivors by offering advocacy support, trauma-informed care, referrals and resources.
